Who we are
Weimaraner Rescue of Texas is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of volunteers who will go to all lengths to save Weimaraners. The dogs come to us from shelters, surrendering owners, the streets, and even ditches in rural areas. Our team of volunteers is deeply committed to helping Weimaraners in need — no matter their circumstances.

Rescue, rehabilitate, place
Our mission is the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of Weimaraners from animal shelters, found stray, abandoned, neglected, and abused. We educate the public on responsible pet ownership and promote spay/neuter.
We are dedicated to ending the tragedy of pet overpopulation by opposing puppy mills, pet stores selling live animals, and irresponsible over-breeding of companion animals.
A safe place to land, and a forever home after
Our rescue dedicates resources to give the dogs a safe, secure, and loving foster environment for physical rehabilitation, as well as training for behavioral rehabilitation if needed. We aim to provide a new start and a forever home — carefully selecting the right adopters and helping transition dogs to families that are better suited for Weimaraners.
Unique to WRT is our forever foster program. Dogs with terminal ailments do come into rescue. They're labeled forever fosters and live in one home with all costs completely covered by WRT for their remaining days. We love our forever fosters and spare little expense on their care and comfort.
Our success is the direct result of donors and volunteers. We could not do what we do if it weren't for you.
Families like yours

Is a Weimaraner right for you?
In the right home, these dogs are wonderful, loving companions. But Weimaraners are a misunderstood breed with very specific exercise and training needs — they're not a good fit for everyone. Many of the dogs in our program were surrendered by families who didn't have the time or home environment the breed needs.
